Alone beneath the storm-blow sky
I stand here on this lonely shore,
And bid the sea bear me away,
Everything I was is gone,
There is no cause for me to stay.
I searched in vain for the road,
That would lead to Heaven's light,
But Fate the trickster played his game,
Hiding salvation from my sight.
And so I drift upon the tide,
Alone beneath the storm-blown sky,
While the abyss calls out to me,
A deep and lightless lullaby.
The words roll on and sooth my soul,
My surrender comes unbidden,
Thus embraced by these black waves,
By the realm of light I'm shriven.
