Poem and Poet
~ From your works shall you be known ~

Summer's day in Alabama

As I woke this morning
down here in the south
the strawberries were ripe
just right for my mouth

The flowers were blooming
and oh how they shone
the colors were amazing
just all the right tones

As the sun shines high
away up in that there sky
you know what?
I'm gonna bake me a pie

Let's fry some fish for dinner
with hushpuppies and all
then I'll take me a nap
down yonder
under that big shade tree's lap
Then I'll watch the white clouds
drift slowly towards the sea

And you know what my friend
times like these
I thank God I'm me.
