Pascal, a Golden Retriever
Blonde
depleter
Of rabbit populations,
Green-gazed vigilante
Leaping at cats,
He is the puma glimpsed
In woodland clearings,
The gazelle
Circling our garden,
The hippo wallowing
In evil black mud.
Cosy crammer
Into the crevices
Of bodies, he delights
In love and biscuits,
Dances with his paws
Held, like a child,
Squirms on feet and lies
Stubbornly in doorways,
Draughtstopper dog,
One wicked eye half open.
