Charlotte, a beloved cat
The story behind the poem
This is
an epitaph I wrote for my daughter and her husband's cat Charlotte
(notice that the poem spells her name read vertically down the left
side), who died of kidney failure (actually, old age) about a year
ago. My daughter had to take her to the vet to be put quietly and
peacefully to sleep. She was a very loving pet, and I tried to put
into words what she might have said from beyond the grave.
