Queen of the silver screen
I was a goddess
Of the silver screen
In a golden era
That Hollywood had
Never seen
With my blood red nails
And lips to match
My Hollywood glamour
I was pure class
I had my pick of leading men
From Cary Grant, Steve McQueen
To James Dean back then
Ava Gardner, Lauren Bacall
I was the Goddess
Of them all
My name in lights
Above the theatre door
It would be packed
From the rafters right
Down to the floor
Every Saturday night
With movie goers
That was for sure
In 1954 along came
My first Oscar to great applause
Then again in 62 along came Oscar no 2
I was honored on the
Hollywood Walk of Fame
With all the great stars
Who have been and came
Audrey Hepburn and Marilyn Monroe
Thought they could steal
My silver glow, but
Just like a true movie queen
I still dazzled on the silver screen
Metro Goldwyn Mayer
Warner Brothers too
Used to fight over what
I could do
Scripts and contracts
Would land on my floor
To bring the big bucks
To their studio door
Camera, Lights, Action
I could do in one take
Other actresses
Used to make mistakes
I definitely know it's true
They just don't make them
Like they used to do
