Watching you without me
The story behind the poem
I think about death sometimes as
everybody does. It is the great certainty of life that will happen to
us all.
I sat watching TV one night with my wife Debbie and just wondered what
her life would be like without me.
I have no doubt at all that she would cope, but the things that are
left unsaid and the things still unfinished would still be around her.
There was a half-painted skirting board in the room at the time... I
think I finished painting it the next day.
