Poem and Poet
~ From your works shall you be known ~

Losing something
The story behind the poem

This poem is very personal to me, and I must admit I hesitated a little before submitting it to a public forum. This is just about losing (or choosing to give) something that is very precious ...your virginity.
It happens to most of us at some point in our lives, but I feel on reflection that I was much too young when it happened to me. The young lady, who shall remain anonymous, was the same age as me but was much more mature and developed. Afterwards my young mind was beset with doubt and confusion..., on the one hand I felt that I had done something adult and manly, but on the other I just wanted to run home to my Mum and Dad and sit quietly on a couch hoping they couldn't notice anything different about me.
The first time is seldom the best ...but it seems we never forget it.
