Poem and Poet
~ From your works shall you be known ~

January night
The story behind the poem

I was very close to a colleague. He inspired me to be free. Part of me loved him. When he started dating a new girl, it wasn't easy for me but I was so happy for him because he was elated.

This poem is about an evening when I was leaving work and I ran into him returning to work. It was frigidly cold and dark outside, but his aura warmed me while we shared a moment in the street. We stood face to face listening to "Like you'll never see me again" by Alicia Keyes, not saying a word. We stood there for the duration of the song. When it was over I replaced his ear-bud in his ear, we embraced and we went in our separate directions.

Now we don't even speak.
