Ode to a bread pudding
The story behind the poem
A Bread Pudding is a
curious creature... you basically grab a loaf of bread, soak it in
water, squeeze it out, mash it up with currants, sultanas and spices
and then bung it into the oven... and I absolutely hate it! However I worked with a guy
called George Quinn who loved it and brought some in to work every day. Knowing that I
dabble in poetry somebody challenged me to write about a Bread Pudding and this was
what came out of the oven of my brain after about 40 minutes at 190 C. (A fan-assisted brain
would have probably been a little quicker.)
