She steps out of the limousine
The story behind the poem
I was inspired to write this poem by material on the
theme of limousines. I thought: would
I like to be one of those people who travels regularly in a limousine,
looking glamorous? And then I thought: no, I wouldn't.
It led me to wonder if someone with such a lifestyle might not perhaps
prefer to be doing something else: in this case poddling about in
muddy boots with equally muddy dogs, planting something with their
bare hands in the soil.
