The story behind the poem
I wrote
this poem in a spirit of admiration for the white butterflies I could
see from the kitchen window, and of defiance, refusing to allow my
knowledge of their caterpillars' voracious appetite to detract from
the visual delight before me. Sometimes, just for a moment, it is
